I wouldn't go that far ... I still think they provide pretty good governance ... they have good technocrats working for them ....

it's just that they have lost the common touch, the connection with the heartlanders ... which is not surprising cos the living god of singapore is an avowed elitist (the chap believes in eugenics) ... what frightens me is not the prospect of the pappies loosing power ... it's the thought of who'll take over ...

the fear is that the guy who cannot let go, keeps at it, allowing those who are there now to keep thinking they are infallable and it develops into a God-syndrome...

some of them have already forgotten they are there to serve the people, not the other way around, while the rest of them are only paying lip service to that...

all of them have gone beyond the Machiavellian principles which lau lee embodies...

now they seem to be just cynical.. running the place just for their own gains..

Some of my friends claim that while depriving residents in opposition estates is wrong, it is still 'understandable'. They hold on to it even after the news that opposition wards would get less priority for disabled-friendly features came out.

They claim that 'if you're in power, aren't you going to do that as well?'

And they scoff at me for being disillusioned with the ruling party in the first place. I think I've talked about how I got disillusioned with them for the policy of barring Malays from the Navy.

To me that was a major turning point in my life. Up to that point in time I had always been a strong believer in meritocracy. Now the part of the pledge that says 'Regardless of race, language or religion' sounds like a sarcastic joke to me.

And they laugh me for being disillusioned at that and think that I'm taking things a bit too far.

you know, the ultimate irony is that with the current political climate for the opposition, the only sort who'll emerge are those that has nothing else to loose ... clowns in other words ....

take hong kong for example ... their ah beng "long haired MP" is an embarrassment, as any hongkie will privately admit to you, he's a clown who spends quite a bit of his MP salary on russian prostitutes ... but the west holds him up as a shinning hero of democracy .... rofl .....

and we have our very own csj ... who believes hunger strikes will earn him votes ... Laughing

ask them to read yesterday's TODAY paper about the "trickle down effect"

ask them about old folks who serve them at McD's

ask them about the old folks who ask you for your empty can when you eat at hawker centres

ask them about that old lady i buy keropok from occasionally who sits at the stairs of Golden Mile Hawker Centre and why she has that faraway look in her eye

ask them about the need to increase their own pay by a million each when old men have to exist together cramped in a one-room flat with no privacy that they fight to the death

then after all that, ask them how come we are getting an F1 track?

then after all that, ask them how come...

you know what to ask then to see.. all you have to do is to ask them in a logical sequence and all will fall into place

I am disillusioned.

With family, Singapore systems, life & debts.

I offered my mother to move back in.

Now brother is wanting to buy over the flat.

And NOW....the tenant wants to buy over the flat.

Right....where should I go. Everywhere, everyone just wants me to leave. Laughing

marry someone, throw the family nucleus issue in, keep the flat and rent it out. the problem is whether i am around to monitor the rent effectively.

just before lunch boss say got lots of urgent work coming so get ready. 2.5 hours later, still waiting. and for sure when it comes it would be like 4pm and with a "must resolve by today" tag. and i'm v v sure this friday would be like the past 3 weeks - urgent work comes in at 4:30pm and sit in office to work till 8pm. they better dun ask me to work weekends anymore. GGRRRRRRR

I used to have 4 of them at my old place and I kept them outside on the balcony
